Copaiba is the highest know source of the anti-inflammatory chemical, caryophyllene. Copaiba Oil may also be used as a flavoring agent of food products.



Family: Fabaceae.

Genus: Copaifera paupera.

Common Names: Copaiba

Main Action:

Part Used: Resin, Oil.

The copaiba tree grows from 15-30 m high in the Peruvian tropical Amazon. The part that is employed medicinally is the oleoresin (a.k.a. balsam), making it a sustainable rainforest resource that can be harvested without destroying the tree.
