Applications:

Sangre de grado is a medium-to large sized tree that gows from 10-20m elevation in the upper Amazon region of Peru.

Sangre de grado´s red sap or latex has a long history of indigenous use in the rainforest.

The sap dries quickly and forms a barrier , like a “second skin” . Used externally for wounds , fractures, and haemorrhoids, internally for intestinal and stomach ulcers .

Scientists have attributed many of the biologically active properties of the sap(especially its wound-healing capacity ) to two main “active” constituents: an alkaloid named taspine, and a lignin named dimethylcedrusine.
