Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa)

Botanical name: Uncaria tomentosa (Willd) DC.
Uncaria guianensis (Abbl) Gmel.

A brief history about Cat's ClawThe ethnics from the peruvian central jungle have used this plant since houndred of years ago.
Many colonists (germanies, italians, austrians, etc) also used it to solve their health necessities.
In middle of 70`s begun important phytochemical researchments in Austria, Germany and Italy and in middle of 80's in Peru.
It became a very important plant because its tested effects in treatments of illness such as cancer, arthritis, rheumatism, etc, and because its big capacity to strengthen the inmunological system and its likely capacity to heal AIDS.

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION of Cat's Claw

The most investigated of them both (Uncaria tomentosa and Uncaria guianensis) is the Uncaria tomentosa but due initial researchment results on U. guianensis and its traditional use by the ethnics, it seems that both have the same components.

The principal components are several quinovic acid glucosids (have been identified 8 ones till now) as well as triterpens and polioxinels.

Other components that are present in Cat's Claw are a range of hidrosindolc alcaloids. The identified ones till now are: RINCOFILINE, ISORONCOFILINE, MITRAFILINE, UNCARINE F, HIRSUTIN, ISOMITRAFILINE, PTEROPODINE, SPECIOFILINE, ISOPRODINE, and Poliphenoles Flavonics EPICATECINE and 4 PROCYANIDINES.

POSOLOGY of Cat's Claw

Boilt 20 grames of bark in 1 litre of water for 20 minutes (water becames red). The same bark can be boilted up to 3 times. Take this infusion along all day as a beverage, if it tastes bitter to the patient just dilute it with water or with fruit juices (orange or lemon). No add sugar.
Everybody must follow this indications as precaution during three months and stop for three weeks.
In extreme case of illness it is not necessary to stop during 3 weeks.
In high doses this can be a contraceptive.
It is not recommended to pregnants. For people with high pressure take this in lower doses.

EXPERIENCE IN USES of Cat's Claw

Much peolple had a very good result after treatment of the ulcers, arthritis, rehumatis, prostatis, Recklinghausen, tumours, cancer etc.

Dr. Laccarino in Italia proved Cat's claw to a patient from Palermo (a Dr. in surgery) who suffered Immune Complex Sindrome of Connective Tissue. He observed progressive reductions of pains and a greater freedom of movement which let to his patient to walk again. Exaaminations revealed an strong descension of the immune complexes.

Dr. Inchaustegui from the hospital of the Social Security Peruvian Institute in Iquitos (a city in the jungle of Peru) have applied Cat's claw on his patients who had advanced degrees of AIDS. These are his conclusions:

- Patients infected for several years and that had chronical symptons improved their health not having more opportunists diseases.

- The results of VIH reactions have shown oscilations which indicates that VIH
